Cobra XRS 9430 Review
I currently own a Cobra XRS 9430 Radar Detector and I purchased it refurbished for around $60. I purchased the Cobra XRS 9430 Radar Detector because my old radar detector had stopped working. My old radar detector was a Whistler brand, and I was quite happy with that particular radar detector (except for the fact that it gave out quite a few false alarms).
After testing the Cobra XRS 9430 Radar Detector out for a couple of weeks, I noticed that the Cobra XRS 9430 Radar Detector didn’t register as many false alarms as my old Whistler radar detector did. I didn’t particularly like the lady’s voice talking to me on the Cobra XRS 9430 Radar Detector, so I changed the alarm to beeping instead of voice.
The Cobra XRS 9430 Radar Detector seemed to pick up the radar signals it should’ve picked up, and no more than that. In the radar detection department, the Cobra XRS 9430 Radar Detector seemed to work like a charm.
Overall, I’m very happy with the Cobra XRS 9430 Radar Detector, as it seems to work very well. There are a couple of complaints I have about the Cobra XRS 9430 Radar Detector, however.
To begin with, I found it somewhat difficult to get the suction cups for proper mounting of the Cobra XRS 9430 Radar Detector to stay on my windshield. It took me about an hour for me to get the Cobra XRS 9430 Radar Detector properly mounted on my windshield. I’m not sure if I had problems mounting the Cobra XRS 9430 Radar Detector because it was refurbished when I purchased it, or what the problem was. Anyway, be advised that if you purchase the Cobra XRS 9430, you may have problems mounting it on your windshield (or it may take a long time to properly mount it on your windshield.)
The second complaint I have about the Cobra XRS 9430 Radar Detector is that it isn’t very loud. When I’m playing my radio at moderate volume in my vehicle while driving down the road, I can barely hear the radar warnings that the Cobra XRS 9430 Radar Detector emits. I can’t understand why Cobra didn’t make the Cobra XRS 9430 Radar Detector with a louder warning system.
I would recommend the Cobra XRS 9430 Radar Detector to anyone looking for a good radar detector. However, if you like to play your radio a lot while driving down the road, then the Cobra XRS 9430 Radar Detector may not be for you.
