Safety is important whenever you’re on the road. If you’re hunting for a dash cam that records high-quality videos both on the road and in the cabin, the Vantrue N2 Pro is a superb choice. The focal point of the N2 Pro is its dual camera – one facing the front and recording at a 1440p resolution, and one facing the cabin recording at 1080p. This dual camera function makes the dash cam handy for recording events both in front and inside the car. Dubbed as the best dash cam for Uber, Lyft, and taxis, the N2 Pro is a great pick among the ocean of dash cams available in the market. See our list of best front and rear dash cams.

What’s in the Box

Features

Dual Camera

Powered by the Novatek NT96660 CPU, the N2 Pro packs in great image sensors – the Sony Exmor IMX323 for the cabin camera and the OV4689 for the front camera. As for the video quality, the front camera can record at 60fps with a 1440p resolution. The rear camera, on the other hand, can record at 1080p at 30 fps. Using only the front cam allows it to record at 60fps at 1440p. But if you use both cameras simultaneously, it will record at 30fps with 1080p resolution each. The slight resolution drop for the front camera is a totally okay though, considering that both cameras can record in HD at the same time. Find out the difference between 30fps & 60fps.

The N2 Pro’s cameras both have wide lens installed. The front cam has a 170° viewing angle and the rear cam has a 140° view. Moreover, you can rotate the rear cam at 80 degrees so you can still record what’s happening outside of the usual recording field.

The dual camera feature of the N2 Pro is nifty especially for Ubers and taxis because it can monitor passenger activities. Nevertheless, it’s still a good option for personal use, as you can check if anyone is messing with your car. The cameras deliver crystal-clear footage, which is really what you want in a dash cam or any camera for that matter.

Infrared Night Vision

Driving at night is no problem with the Vantrue N2 Pro. Equipped with four IR LED lights near the rear camera, it’s capable of recording even when there’s little to no light. Compared to other rear cameras in the market, the N2 Pro provides clearer in-car footage. You can have these IR LED lights automatically turn on when it detects low-light conditions. Definitely, the N2 Pro has gone the extra mile by providing a superb night vision to ensure passenger safety even at night. If you’re specifically looking for something with STARVIS sensor for great recording even at night, here’s a review of Blackvue DR750S-2CH.

Motion Sensors

The Vantrue N2 Pro’s built-in parking mode detects motion while you’re parked. When the motion sensors identify movement outside the vehicle, the auto-recording feature is enabled. You can change the sensitivity of these sensors in the menu.

Likewise, there’s a G-sensor inside the N2 Pro which detects impacts and other forceful blows nearby. The dash cam automatically records these footages and stores them in a specific, locked-in folder. As such, these critical videos are not affected by any overwriting or loop recording.

Audio Recording

By design, the front and rear cameras of the N2 Pro automatically record audio. Should you choose, you can easily turn off audio recording with a simple press of a button on the camera.

GPS Function

You can track your route, speed, date, and time with the GPS function of the N2 Pro. However, the GPS module is sold separately and is an optional tool that you may want to purchase depending on your needs. We suggest that you do though, as it may help you in case you need precise information in a legal setting.

Storage

The Vantrue N2 Pro can store up to 64GB of footage, but the microSD card is also a separate purchase. One of the downers of this unit is that it doesn’t have an internal storage, and the box doesn’t come with a microSD card either. We think that a 32GB microSD card will do the job, but you have the option to insert a 64GB card in the unit. Nevertheless, the N2 Pro can record about five and a half hours of HD footage.

Warranty

Another thing that customers love about the Vantrue N2 Pro is its extended warranty. While most dash cams, or any other gadgets, provide a warranty of only 12 months, the N2 Pro has a warranty of 18 months. This is a good sign that the company has confidence in the quality and durability of the N2 Pro. In addition, many customers have been reporting the quick response service that the company provides in resolving issues in some N2 Pro units.

PROS:
  • HD Dual Camera that can record simultaneously at 1080p and 30 fps.
  • Great infrared night vision
  • Reliable motion sensors
  • Extended 18-month warranty

CONS:
  • GPS module is bought separately
  • No internal storage, MicroSD card is bought separately
  • Expensive at $200
  • No wifi

Vantrue N2 Pro Review Conclusion

The Vantrue N2 Pro is a great buy for anyone who is looking for HD-quality performance and most reliable dash cams (more dashcam info on this page). The front and rear cameras can record simultaneously at 1080p at 30fps, giving you clear footage. The built-in parking mode with motion sensors and the G-sensor are also great features to capture any important footage.

Moreover, the N2 Pro’s infrared night vision still records clear videos even at low-light conditions. Despite the few hiccups such as the separate GPS, no internal storage, and no wifi, the Vantrue N2 Pro makes up for it by packing in high-quality video and well-built motion sensors, which is really what you need in a dashboard camera.
