BlackVue DR750S-2CH Review
Investing in a dashboard camera is a wise move for any vehicle owner (like truckers with these best options list), as documentation will be readily available in case of any untoward incidents. And while there are many cheaper cameras out there, deciding to allot a bigger budget for a dash cam comes with features that are worth the price – like higher video quality, file management convenience, and additional helpful tools. Scroll down to read RRD’s BlackVue DR750S-2CH review.

Installation and Design
The BlackVue DR750S-2CH requires a few minutes of setting up (click here for RRD’s dashcam installation guide). The front and rear cameras of the unit are separated and have to be attached via a wire with coaxial connectors. Most of the hardware is contained in the front camera, making it physically larger than the rear cam. As for power supply, the front camera draws its power directly from the auxiliary power socket, while the rear camera’s power comes from the front camera’s coaxial cable.
The mounting system is really clever, too. Instead of using a traditional suction cup, the cameras slide into their adhesive mount. The front camera locks in place while the rear cam simply slides out. This might be an issue with some people, but it still makes the camera easily removable if you want to put it away.
High-Definition Dual Camera Recording
Equipped with the STARVIS 2.1 megapixel sensor, both cameras of the BlackVue DR750S-2CH record at 60 frames per second with a 1080p resolution. Wide field of view is seen as the lens captures 139 degrees, making for a slight fish-eye distortion in the footage. However, this small hiccup is easily overcome by the dash cam’s ability to record great quality videos in both day and night settings.
With HD video recording, you are assured of crystal clear images and video both on the road and in the cabin. The BlackVue DR750S-2CH really delivers sharp, quality images and video on both its cameras. You can also find comparable quality in our guide to top-rated front and rear dashcams.
Enhanced Night Vision
Made possible by the topnotch STARVIS sensor, the BlackVue DR750S-2CH can capture extremely well in low-light conditions. When the enhanced night vision feature is activated, the ISO sensitivity is automatically boosted in low light, providing a clear and decipherable image in situations where there is little to no lighting in the area. This is especially useful when you’re driving at night and you happen to pass some places that don’t have street lamps.
In the tests done by BlackVue, the STARVIS sensor outperforms regular CMOS sensors when it comes to night vision, even when the STARVIS enhanced night vision is turned off. Read more about the advantages of having STARVIS sensor here [1]:
Intelligent Parking Mode
Most dash cams have a parking mode where it detects and records motions and impacts when the car is parked. The DR750S-2CH steps it up with two parking mode options: region-based motion detection and time-lapse. Since motions are detected during parking mode, region-based motion detection allows you to choose only certain detection regions so your camera won’t be triggered by insignificant movements such as swaying trees and far-away moving objects. On the other hand, time-lapse parking mode records continuously at 1fps, but videos are played back at 30fps. This means that a 1-minute parking mode time-lapse video is equivalent to 30 minutes of real-time coverage.
If an impact is detected, the video buffer feature is able to record the few seconds leading to the triggering events. Getting a glimpse of the few seconds before an impact may contain vital information, which otherwise would not have been recorded if only the impact was captured.
When the Parking Mode is exited, the DR750S-2CH notifies you if any buffered event videos were recorded while you were away, so you can immediately check any important incident.
Speaking of notifications, a flaw that we noticed with the DR750S-2CH is the displeasingly thin voice feedback that could be almost indiscernible when it’s noisy. Even with the volume pumped up, it’s still a bit hard to hear the message. That being said, voice feedback on the DR750S-2CH could use some improvements.
Companion App and Over the Cloud System
A highlight of the BlackVue DR750S-2CH is the convenience of having a supporting app and cloud storage. By downloading the BlackVue app on your phone or desktop, you are able to manage and access files, control the camera, and configure settings. The interface is also user-friendly, unlike other dash cam companion apps that are hard to navigate and have fewer controls. That being said, we note that the DR750S-2CH has no LCD screen, meaning you have to use the app for any changes or settings you’d like to check. This might or might not be an issue, depending on what floats your boat.
Aside from the superb app, the DR750S-2CH also boasts its Over the Cloud storage, where you can back up videos and access them remotely from anywhere. As long as you have a Wi-Fi connection in your car, you can easily take advantage of this highly convenient feature.
- High quality video at 1080p on both front and rear cameras
- Enhanced night vision
- Over the Cloud
- Companion app
- Pricey
- No screen
- Tinny voice feedback
